Acceptable use

What LookValid may and may not be used for.
This policy is part of the terms of service. It applies to the API, the MCP server, the dashboard and the free tools, and to anything you build on them.
1. No unlawful use
Do not use the service to break any law or regulation that applies to you or to the people you look up, including laws on privacy, data protection, telemarketing and unsolicited messages, and export controls. A lookup is not permission to contact someone. You must have your own lawful basis for calling, texting or emailing anyone.
2. No eligibility decisions covered by the FCRA
LookValid is not a consumer reporting agency and its results are not consumer reports. Do not use results, in whole or in part, to decide a person's eligibility for:
- credit or loans, including insurance underwriting;
- employment, hiring, promotion or retention;
- housing or tenancy;
- or any other purpose covered by the U.S. Fair Credit Reporting Act or similar laws elsewhere.
Using results as one risk signal for blocking spam, abuse or fake sign-ups on your own service is fine, provided you do not use them as the basis for an eligibility decision of the kinds above.
3. No harassment, stalking or intimidation
- Do not use results to harass, threaten, stalk, dox or intimidate anyone, or to find someone who does not want to be found.
- Do not use the service to run unsolicited bulk calls, texts or emails, or to avoid blocks and complaint lists.
- Do not use the service for discrimination based on a protected characteristic.
4. Respect systems and other sites
- Do not probe, scan or attack our systems, test for vulnerabilities without our written permission, or try to get around rate limits, credit holds or billing.
- Do not use the website lookups to reach private networks, to attack other sites, or to bypass a site's access controls, logins or paywalls. Only public pages are in scope.
- Do not share one account's API key across unrelated businesses, or create accounts to repeat the trial.
5. Use results honestly
- Do not present results as more certain than they are. Several sources are approximate or unverified.
- Keep any attribution that a result lists, such as the DB-IP credit for IP geolocation.
- Do not resell raw results as a competing lookup service.
6. Enforcement
If we believe you have broken this policy we may limit or suspend your keys or account, without refunding unused credits where the breach was serious, and we may report unlawful use to the authorities. We will try to tell you why by email first unless that would put others at risk.
7. Reporting
To report abuse of the service, write to hello@lookvalid.com with "Abuse" in the subject. Do not send API keys.
