Validate a list exported from Waalaxy

A guide to checking the website links in a prospect CSV exported from Waalaxy, so you do not open or send a link that sits on a list of reported malicious domains.

Why the data matters in Waalaxy

A Waalaxy CSV export carries a row per prospect, with columns such as Company URL, LinkedIn URL, Email and Phone Numbers, and your team will often add a website column of its own and then open or paste those links into messages. Some are old, taken over or reported as harmful. A quick check of every link in the file you own, before anyone clicks, keeps a bad domain out of your browsers and your messages.

What LookValid checks

LookValid checks for Waalaxy
ProductWhat it does hereCredits
Link Safety CheckChecks the domain of each link against a published list of reported malicious domains and returns listed or not listed. A link that is not listed is not proof it is safe.1 credit per URL checked (a check that cannot run is free)
Domain AgeReturns the registration date and age in days of a link domain, which helps you spot brand new domains in a row.2 credits per registered domain (unregistered domains are free)
Website Contacts ScraperReads the public pages of a prospect company domain and returns the emails and phone numbers it publishes.10 credits per domain with contacts found
Email Domain CheckChecks the domain of an email in a row for mail servers and flags disposable and free providers, without contacting the mail server.1 credit per address checked

Connect it in four steps

  1. Open a LookValid account, create an API key from the dashboard, then in Waalaxy select the prospects in a list or campaign, click Export and choose Download CSV file, and keep the file on your computer.
  2. Set LOOKVALID_API_KEY in the shell that starts the Node script, and let the script read it from process.env so it never ends up in the list.
  3. The script posts each website address in the file (the column you added, or any other link column) to the link safety endpoint; found:false rows are set aside for a person to look at, and an error answer ends the run with its code.
  4. It writes linkVerdict and linkHost as columns of the copy; open only rows whose verdict is not_listed, and hold back any that are listed.

A Node script on your own computer that reads the exported file row by row and writes a checked copy. The call is POST https://YOUR_API_HOST/v1/link-safety and costs 1 credit per URL checked (a check that cannot run is free).

const API_URL = "https://YOUR_API_HOST/v1/link-safety";

export async function checkWaalaxyExportLink(value) {
  const response = await fetch(API_URL, {
    method: "POST",
    headers: {
      Authorization: `Bearer ${process.env.LOOKVALID_API_KEY}`,
      "Content-Type": "application/json",
    },
    body: JSON.stringify({
      "url": value,
    }),
  });
  const result = await response.json();
  if (!response.ok) throw new Error(`${result.error.code}: ${result.error.fix}`);
  if (!result.found) return null;
  return {
      "linkVerdict": result.data?.verdict ?? null,
      "linkHost": result.data?.host ?? null,
  };
}

data.hostlinkHost

The recipe returns nothing when the lookup finds nothing, and stops with the error code and fix on a failed request.

Without code

To skip the script, load the file in a spreadsheet or an automation platform that can loop over rows, and add a generic HTTP request step that posts each link to the link safety endpoint with your key in a header. Write the verdict into a new column. It needs no dedicated app and never reaches back into the tool the file came from.

Questions

What does each link check cost?

It is a per-call price, shown on the pricing page. Check the page for the current credit amount before running a large file.

Does a not_listed verdict mean the site is safe?

No. The list only holds domains that have already been reported, and the check is of the domain, not the page behind the link.

Do you log into Waalaxy for me?

No. The guide only covers a file you exported and own. It does not connect to or automate the tool.
