Check domain authority, links and domain age in Adobe Analytics

Weigh the referring domains from a report export with an open link-graph score, so large referrers stand out from the long tail.

Why the data matters in Adobe Analytics

Referrer reports in a large analytics deployment list thousands of domains, most of them noise, and the few that matter are hard to spot by visit counts alone. Analysts then spend hours sorting by hand before a channel review, and a spammy referrer can still sit in the top of the table.

What LookValid checks

LookValid checks for Adobe Analytics
ProductWhat it does hereCredits
Domain AuthorityGives a 0 to 100 score for a domain from open web-graph and rank lists, with every input shown. A domain outside the open lists is unranked, which is not proof of low authority.10 credits per domain found in the rank data (an unranked domain is free)
Link Safety CheckChecks a referring domain against a public list of reported malicious domains and returns listed or not listed.1 credit per URL checked (a check that cannot run is free)
Domain AgeReturns registration date and age in days from the registry, which helps flag a brand-new referrer.2 credits per registered domain (unregistered domains are free)

Connect it in four steps

  1. Create a LookValid account and an API key from the dashboard, which a person does once.
  2. Keep the key in the LOOKVALID_API_KEY environment variable of the scheduled job or notebook that processes the delivered feed or Data Warehouse file, and out of the file itself.
  3. Call the function for each referring domain in the file; a None return means found was false, so mark the row unranked, and an exception shows the error code and fix.
  4. Add the score and matched domain as new columns in the report table you share, sorted so the high-score referrers sit at the top.

A script that reads a data feed file or a Data Warehouse spreadsheet you have exported, takes its referring-domain column, and adds a score column. The call is POST https://YOUR_API_HOST/v1/domain-authority and costs 10 credits per domain found in the rank data (an unranked domain is free).

The recipe returns nothing when the lookup finds nothing, which costs no credits for this product, and stops with the error code and fix on a failed request.

Without code

If you prefer no script, an automation platform's generic HTTP request step can read the exported rows from a sheet or cloud storage file, send each domain to LookValid and write the score back. No dedicated LookValid app is needed, and nothing inside Adobe Analytics is changed.

Questions

What does it cost in credits?

The pricing page lists the credits for the domain authority product. Score each referrer once and keep the result.

What does the score not do?

It is a link-graph score from open rank lists, not another vendor's authority number, and it only covers domains inside the top of those lists.

Where does the key go?

In an environment variable of the job that processes the export.

LookValid bills every lookup in credits from one shared balance, so the same key works for each check above.
