Datacenter IP

A datacenter IP address belongs to a hosting or cloud provider, so traffic from it comes from a server instead of a person at home or on a phone.

How it works

Published address ranges from the large cloud providers make these easy to flag. Genuine users rarely browse from a server, but their VPNs, bots and company tools often do.

Treat a datacenter address as a signal about automation or masking, and weigh it against what the visitor is trying to do.

A hosting provider's blocks are usually announced under its own autonomous system number, so matching an address to both its ASN and the provider's published ranges gives a firmer answer than either alone. Mobile carriers and home internet providers sit in different ASNs, which is why their customers rarely trip this flag.
