# Create an account and sign in

Sign up with an email link or Google and get to your dashboard and first API key.

## Ask for an account

1. Email [hello@lookvalid.com](mailto:hello@lookvalid.com?subject=Get%20started%3A%20API%20key) with the lookups you need and roughly how many a month.
2. We set up your account and reply with your API key.
3. Write from the same address any time you need access again, a key revoked or a plan changed.

## What to put in the email

- The lookups you need: phone, email, domain or IP, or a mix.
- Roughly how many lookups you expect each month, and whether they arrive steadily or in large batches.
- How you plan to call them: the API from your own code, bulk CSV files, or an AI client through the MCP server.

## Keeping your key safe

Store the key in an environment variable or a secret manager, never in source control or browser code, and ask us to revoke it if it leaks. The [API keys guide](https://lookvalid.com/help/account/manage-api-keys.md) covers the details.
