# unknown_product error

HTTP 404 unknown_product: No product exists at this path. Cause, fix and a curl example.

`unknown_product` is returned with HTTP **404**. Retryable: no. Sending the same request again returns the same error. Nothing is charged for this error.

## What it means

No product exists at this path.

## Most likely cause

The product id in the URL is misspelled, the product is not offered by this server at all, or the path is not an endpoint at all.

## How to fix it

Check the product id in the URL against the product list in the OpenAPI document or llms.txt.

## Example

A path that names no served product returns HTTP 404. The `fix` field lists the products this server offers.

```sh
curl -i -X POST https://YOUR_API_HOST/v1/not-a-product -H "Authorization: Bearer $LOOKVALID_API_KEY" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{}'
```

An error response is one JSON envelope. Branch on `code`, never on the message text. The `message` and `fix` of a real response can be more specific than the defaults shown here.

```json
{
  "error": {
    "code": "unknown_product",
    "message": "No product exists at this path.",
    "fix": "Check the product id in the URL against the product list in the OpenAPI document or llms.txt.",
    "docs_url": "https://lookvalid.com/docs/errors/unknown_product",
    "retryable": false,
    "request_id": "req_3fK9pQ2xVb7LmN4sTz8WcA"
  }
}
